Art and our hands.

Hey there, 'Hope you're doing well.

Recently, a friend said to me; "People make art with their eyes." At first I was like "Yeah, so true." but then I had a proper think about it while walking around my town today.

Art is made by hand. (Usually. Singers write scripts at some point. Shush.)

Artists make art through many different ways and for many different audiences.

Some make art for eyes.
Under Construction, obviously. <3
Some make art for ears.

Some art is made for a mixture of senses.
Like taste, smell and sight.
Look at that crumpet. Damn. Makes my mouth water. That is a masterpiece, I can tell you that for free.

Basically, what I'm trying to say is:
Art is made in many different ways and we all start with the same tools (our hands), but somehow get different results, be it a poem, a sound, a drawing, a concept or a magnificent meal like that crumpet right there.

Something to think about for a while.
If you don't think so, then click Next Blog at the top of the page, if you do however, give me a +1 and tell me what you think.

Angel, Katamari Music and an Apology.

Ohai,

So all today I've been listening to the Katamari Soundtrack. I knew it was addicting but in the words of RWJ: GEEZUS. Everlasting Love.
Thank you Youtube. <3

Anywho, Unfortunately, my camera has gone walk-about, so I'm gunna have to postpone my project for another couple of days. I'm sorry. :(

So I spent today doing this for you all instead.

On the left here is Angel, looking slightly confused and about to thrust her Guard Skill: Hand Sonic blade.
7-8 layers, all done in GIMP 2.6, which crashed on me several times today. I might have to look at getting another program. Referenced off a picture from google images, 20 Points if you know what Anime she is from.

Until next time, see ya'!

Taiga, College and other such geekery.

Ohai there,

I apologise for the long wait between blogs. I've been busy with college work and for a few days, I didn't have proper access to my computer.

So, I've passed the first year of my college course, despite the difficulties I've had at the start of the year. It's great, I can't wait to move on to the next year. I'm going to blitz it and get it all done at the start so I can have a bit more time off at the end of it.

Now I'm on holiday for a month and a bit. Maybe two. I can't keep track very well. Either way, I have plenty of time to draw now and that surprise I was on about is almost ready, I just need to get at the camera and have some decent light in the room I will be filming to get started. It will all be revealed soon.

Been playing more Katamari, I love it. Since my xbox is well and truly buggered (6 fixes later and it won't last more than a minute on it's own), I doubt that I will get to play it at home so I've given it to a friend for the time being. The game I mean, not the xbox. That's chilling in the corner.
I've been playing more Minecraft also, just waiting for some mod updates so that I can get going properly again. I might do more pixel art on my server for that, a giant Charmander would look great next to my Nyan-cat

Oh yes, the image on the top right is Taiga, from Toradora again. 5-6 layers in GIMP 2.6, the eyes were very difficult for me to do, I was working with a 1 pixel brush at one point. This is where I realised I should just set the resolution to 4000x4000 and work with a larger brush. Ah well, a lesson learnt for another image.

Almost finished.

Ohai there,

I've nearly done with the coursework and everything now, by 4pm today I won't have to go back to college for nearly 10 whole weeks!
...Except for when my friends are applying and I am showing them the way around.

In a few days, that surprise thing will be ready to go up also, I can't wait for it, because it'll be my little project.

My room is currently, not my room also. It's in the process of being painted and then wallpapered, so it may be another couple of days before I can start drawing again, so until then, I'm sharing another one of my older Toradora pictures!

This one is basically a tracing from a screenshot, with minor edits on the eyes and face shape. I'm still getting used to the graphics tablet, so tracings are still very useful to me.

And with that, I'm offski for another couple of days, Sayonara!

Miku Hatsune and Alton Towers

So I went to Alton Towers today, where most of the rides broke down, but we had a laugh anyway, was great fun. Next time, I'm going to have to bring a chessboard with some glued on pieces and just troll all the staff at the photobooth. ;)

Anyway, short one 'cause I have a lot of coursework to catch up on:

Miku Hatsune; Vocaloid.

You will probably have seen this girl around somewhere. She is featured in a Japanese program to dance to the sounds you input (As far as I am aware anyway, as I don't own a copy myself.), she's became very popular across the internet for some reason and is the most well known vocaloid.

9 Layers in GIMP 2.6, including white background.
Done in the same fashion as my other drawings, go take a look at my other blog posts if you want to see them.

Oh, next blog will probably be in a few more days (3-4) because I am now on my final few days of the course (All due in for Monday!) So until then, I'm concentrating on that.

Zelda and a quick doodle

So I realised yesterday, after I posted about nerding, that I have never actually completed a Zelda game. So I'm stealing a friends Nintendo and they'll find that out by reading this blog. My friends love me. :3

Problem is, I have a ton of coursework to do still, I really shouldn't be doing this. Ah well, I need my nerd cred rising a bit ;)

Also, a quick doodle since I've not finished my Miku picture yet (It's about 40% done).

This is also available on my deviantART account, The basis of this is that since I have long, curly, blue hair, it tends to just turn into a mop of ringlets from time to time.
I get told it looks cute, people play with my hair, it sometimes makes me feel like I'm not the manliest man in the room.
I'm sorry I can't imagine myself manly, it's ridiculous image.

Nerding, Katamari and Minecraft. All the same beautiful things really.

Drawing

So, because I've been concentrating on my coursework I haven't been able to draw much of anything, so I'm going to show you one of my slightly older images of Taiga, from Toradora!
To get this image I did a rough tracing, then a rough couple of copies of said tracing, then did a neat one over the rough copies. This is so that I can get used to my graphics tablet. I need practice. The eyes however, I changed because of how I was feeling at the time. I feel like they say "Why?" in a hurt way. If I've succeed then you do too! :3
It's also under the name of Expression Switch on my DeviantART account.

Stuff :(

In other really sad news, Ryan Dunn, Jackass Star, died at about 3:30am (American time I assume.) in some kind of car accident.
It's a sad day for people everywhere as the entertainment he brought (and still brings, as Viva La Bam is something I watch often with friends.) was of near unmatched value.

Nerding

There are certain things a nerd must know about to call themselves a nerd, without shame. These are usually in form of things like, having watched all of the Star Wars films, or understanding the storyline of Lord of the Rings.
I myself had a particularly nerdy weekend. I drank with friends and played Beautiful Katamari until 6:30am.

IT.
WAS.
AMAZING.

(Comic from Dueling Analogs)
The Katamari games are simply amazing. The basics of the game are: Roll your Katamari around and pick up objects with it. This makes the Katamari grow to pick up more and more objects, until eventually you're picking up buildings, boats and cows tied to balloons in the air. 'Cause that's logical.
Seriously, if you haven't played this game yet, try and find a copy, I picked up a pre-owned one (Why anyone would EVER want to get rid of this game I will never know.) from a GAME store near my college. It's not expensive and it's the most surreal and fun experience you'll get out of a game so simplistic. It rivals Minecraft in my books, and I REALLY like Minecraft.

NYAN
Yes I made this, obviously not the first ever to be made ;)
Minecraft is another one of those games everyone just has to play.
Another really cheap game which is just amazing; you can do basically whatever you want in it. Explore, Create, Fight, Socialize, you name it, Minecraft has it.

But Hey, I'm not here to recommend games to you, I don't get paid for that ;)
